About Us

Welcome to the website of the Department of Public Policy!

Our Department offers US-accredited graduate programs in public policy at the Master’s and the doctoral levels. Focus is placed on analysis, design and implementation of public policy at the national and international level. Programs take a multi-disciplinary approach to the study of public policy: faculty members hold degrees in public policy, politics, economics, law and international relations from a range of European and US universities.

The study of public policy at CEU focuses on the tools that governments and international organizations have and use to regulate states, markets and society. The MA and PhD programs address core questions of public policy: how public policy is made, financed, organized and managed; how global, European and national political and economic institutions affect policy outcomes; and what effects policy and its regulation have in practice. They emphasize the link between academia and policy practice, between the public and the private sector, and between domestic and international politics. They are based on cutting-edge research: each course is taught by professors who research and publish in that area.

The MA in public policy was established in 2004, to meet the increasing demand for astute analysts at all levels of policy-making: global, national or local. Students will find an attractive learning environment and excellent resources for developing their careers.

The student/faculty ratio for the Department of Public Policy is 5:1.
